Tun Abdul Ghaffar Baba's Gallery Tun Abdul Ghaffar was the second Chief Minister of Melaka and the first elected by the people. His tenure was from 1 June 1959 to 5 October 1967. Tun Abdul Ghaffar was also made the nation's Deputy Prime Minister on 5th May 1986, as well as Rural Development Minister in 1986. Tun Abdul Ghaffar was the longest in the government service since he won the first elections in 1955. In order to remember his loyal service, the State Government of Melaka turned his residence in Bukit Peringgit into the Galeri Tun Abdul Ghaffar bin Baba which was open to public in 2006.
