Welcome to the Melaka Historic City Council. From the reign of the Sumateran Prince, Parameswara, who was also the founder of the Melaka Malay Sultanate in the 1400 A.D.,
Malacca has continuously progressed on its path to glory.
Portuguese writer, Tome Pires once said:
"men cannot estimate the worth of Melaka on account of its greatness and profit."
The Portuguese occupation which began in 1511, followed by the Dutch, British, Japanese, and then British again, have further enriched the historical treasure of Melaka resulting in a harmonious and wonderful life here enhanced by the diversity of culture and tradition.
The State Government of Melaka is not only concerned about its responsibilities towards its residents but also stresses on the comfort of tourists and investors visiting Melaka.
The provision of infrastructure in the effort to transform Malacca into a developed state in all aspects is the basis of development planning of the state. Despite being one of the historical cities in Malaysia, it is not our intention to transform Melaka into a 'Museum City'. Rather, we would like this city to be a dynamic, living organism which is constantly progressing. Our pledge is to ensure a balanced transition between the development of the city, conservation of its historical remnants and preservation of the environment.
Our past, present, and future unity is my hope in transforming this blessed state to be unique and at the same time giving confidence to its residents, visitors, and investors alike. Many have benefitted from the wealth and beauty of Melaka. However, there are still more treasures and opportunities to be explored.
Imagine yourself as a part of that glory!
