Temporary Advertisement
Advertisement Approval
Advertisement license for banner, bunting and balloon approvals are issued on temporary basis. The maximum period for the advertisement allowed to be hung is 30 days (1 month). An extension to this time period is allowed after the licenser’s application has been rechecked and the advertisement itself must be displayed or replaced if it is not in a good condition.
Procedures for Applying Temporary Advertisemen
 | Applicants are required to complete the application form and submit the actual advertisement that is intended to be hung. |
 | The Licensing Officer will approve the application after all of the conditions provided are followed. |
 | After the payment is made, the advertisement will be given a sticker / stamp of approval. |
Places where Advertisements are Not Allowed to be Hung
 | Restricted areas / territories. |
 | Places that have been marked as "Restricted Area" |
 | Public places, such as telephone booths, telephone poles, electric poles, fire hydrants, signboards, traffic lights, road signs, plants and decorations for the purpose of street beautification. |
 | Banners are not allowed in areas where they could obscure the sight of road users, obstruct public walkways, and cause danger to the public. |

Places that have been provided by the Council for the purpose of hanging banners
1. Dataran Sejarah, Ayer Keroh.
2. In front of Malaysia Multimedia University, Bukit Beruang.
3. In front of TEAC factory, Batu Berendam.
4. Tun Mutahir Street.
5. Tun Fatimah Street.
6. In front of Tun Fatimah Stadium.
7. Bukit Baru Street.
8. Pandan Street (in front of school)
9. Batu Berendam Wholesale Market.
10. Junction to MITC (Jalan Ayer Keroh Lama).
11. Malim Jaya Roundabout.
12. In front of Historical Malacca City Council Community Hall, Ujong Pasir.
Usual places where banners are allowed to be hung
1. Banda Hilir.
2. Jalan Panglima Awang(In front of TESCO).
3. Ujong Pasir.
4. Melaka Raya.
5. Junction at Taman Kota Laksamana Road.
6. Bukit Cina Roundabout.
7. Taman Mutiara, Batu Berendam.
8. Pantai Puteri.
9. Bukit Rambai.
10. Alai / Semabok
11. Bukit Katil
12. Klebang
13. Sungai Udang
Note : Permissions for installation that is not involving trees, traffic lights, street lights and wooden walls.
Protocol roads where banners are restricted from
1. Lebuh Ayer Keroh - Jalan Tun Razak.
2. Melaka Raya Walk.
3. Hang Tuah Mall.
4. Jalan Gapam / Seri Negeri.
5. Melaka Sentral.
Restricted Places / Areas (Includes Banner and Bunting)
1. Places that have been marked with restricted areas (for example; “Stick No Bills”, “Dilarang Menampal Pelekat”).
2. Public places such as phone booths, electric poles, fire hydrants, road signs, traffic signals, plants and decorations for the purpose of street beautification.
3. Banners are not allowed in areas where they could obscure the sight of road users, obstruct public walkways, and cause danger to the public.
4. Government buildings.
5. Public property.
6. Trees.
7. Overhead bridges.
8. Across roads.
9. Any other places that are considered restricted other than streetlights at road dividers.
Important conditions in license approval
1. The Malay Language should be given priority in all advertisement. Priority is given in terms of :-
Location - should be at the top of an advertisement.
Size - Double the size of other languages.
Correct sentence structure.
Correct spelling.
2. Application will be rejected if the language used is confusing, vulgar and indecent.
3. Applicants are advised to bring along a sample of graphic sketch before making the real banner. All applications need to be enclosed with a colored graphic sketch of the proposed advertisement.
4. Business Registration
Applications are required to include the company or business registration in the application form.
Payment Rate
The payment rates are :

General Rules
1. The Council will remove banners that are put at prohibited areas, unfastened, unlicensed and expired.
2. License holders are fully responsible in ensuring that advertisements are displayed at legal areas, secured neatly at all times and removed after their validity period has expired.
3. Advertisements that display alcoholic drinks are only allowed to be hung at premises that have been approved by the District Office.
4. Applications for temporary advertisement license will not be entertained for premises of which that premise business license are not approved by the Historical Malacca City Council.
5. Completed applications will be processed in one day.
6. The deposit is confiscated if the wall advertisement is removed by the Council due to the license holders failure to remove it.
7. Advertisement's deposit can only be taken back after the wall advertisement is removed by the license holder by submitting the original receipt and a copy of the applicant’s identity card.
